The current generation Ford Explorer Sport Trac model comes mostly unchanged. It is offered in two trim versions, the base model XLT, and Limited. Both the models have capacity to seat up to 5-passengers.

Engine

The standard engine to the Ford Explorer Sport Trac model is a SOHC V6 version that delivers 210 hp of power at 5100 rpm and torque of 254 lb ft at 3700 rpm, while the optional 4.6 liter V8 engine produces 292 hp of power at 5000 rpm and torque of 315 lb ft at 4000 rpm.

The transmission options include 5-speed automatic and 6-speed automatic. With the V6 engine, the Sport SUV model can achieve fuel economy of 14 mpg in the city premises and 20 mpg on the highway roads, while it can achieve 15/21mpg with the V8 engine.

The major competitors to the Ford Explorer Sport Trac include Nissan Frontier, Dodge Dakota, Toyota Tacoma and Honda Ridgeline.
